Austin, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Committed to providing life-enriching programs and meaningful partnerships to improve residents’ quality of life, Belmont Village Senior Living Lakeway has partnered with the highly respected Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) in partnership with Texas Tech and the University of Texas at Austin to provide residents and local seniors ages 50 and older with a powerful lifelong learning opportunity pursue. Participants can participate in hybrid learning sessions across a variety of subjects, held in person at the Belmont Village Lakeway or virtually online, making it easy for seniors to participate. Belmont Village Lakeway began a six-week pilot program in October and was one of the first OLLI partnerships to offer classes outside of a college campus.

Established at 125 colleges and universities, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes Program offers a distinctive selection of non-credit courses and activities designed for older adults age 50 and older. The program is overseen by the Bernard Osher Foundation, which seeks to improve the quality of life through support for higher education and the arts.
In November and December, OLLI, Belmont Village Senior Living Lakeway and Texas Tech University will offer two in-person and online learning sessions with distinguished speakers, held in the Lakeway community and open to residents and local seniors ages 50 and older, as follows:
“The Gothic Synthesis of Heaven and Earth in Chartres Cathedral” – Tuesday 15 Novemberth, 2022, 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.: Speaker, Ray Buchanan, Ph.D. teaches history at Texas Tech and has taught in East Africa, at Southern Methodist University, and at the Greenhill School in Dallas. The class will study one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture, fusing the physical and spiritual worlds and exploring the use of sculpture and stained glass windows.
“The Supreme Court’s Decision-Making Process” – Thursday 1 DecemberSt, 2022, 2:00-3:30 p.m.: Speaker, Frank Reilly is an associate professor of political science at Texas Tech, an attorney with Potts & Reilly, LLP, and a judge who has appeared before the Supreme Court. This course examines the Supreme Court’s decision-making process and how recent news of the Court’s leaks have challenged its methods.
