Sean Carlson Announces Cross Country/Distance Signing Class – University of Tennessee Athletics – University of Tennessee Athletics | Team Cansler

On Wednesday Tennessee Head Coach and Director of Cross Country/Distance Sean Carlson announced the program signatories for the Class of 2023. The Vols and Lady Vols will welcome state champions from across the country to Rocky Top as the distance squad looks to build on an impressive first year under Carlson.

“On the women’s side, this will undoubtedly be one of the most intense recruiting classes in the entire NCAA,” Carlson said. “With nine state champions in the group, this is the class that will lay the foundation for Tennessee women’s cross country for years to come. I hope this group grows together as a family into one of the most elite teams in the world. I’m over the moon with the young women we have both as runners and as people.

“The men’s division consists of seven state champions and some of the most elite talent in the country. With six boys running either 4:10 for the mile or 9:05 for two miles, this is one group who can fuel our quest for podium finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. These are the young men who will cement distance running in Tennessee as the premier program for high schoolers in the South.”
